The European nations swiftly colonized the not long discovered North America. ChesapeakeMiddle and the New England areas were the two regions were England sent our several groups for colonization. New England and Chesapeake Bay region differ primarily in their opinion on religion. The disparity created varying levels of development to their colonies. As the more religious colonizer, New England colonies focused on creating havens for people of their faith. In comparison, the Chesapeake Bay region colonies were formed and shaped by people looking for gold and glory. The Chesapeake Bay region colonies created economical and geographical divisions, with the mentality of growth in itself, making it hard for socialization. On the other hand, People in the New England colonies created ties with their neighbors as they prayed and worked with one another creating better socialization.

It was required in the New England colonies and some colonies of Chesapeake Bay to attend mass, but with two different motives. The New England believes in the positive effects of education and spirituality in its people while the Chesapeake Bay generally uses the church to lessen the crime among youth. Thus, the disparity in their belief with regards to religion shaped diverse cultures in each region.

The middle colonies or Chesapeake Bay region were mostly urban making trade and commerce their connection. As it has no dominant religious group, it was a common dwelling place for religious misfits. The Chesapeake Bay authorities accepted this and viewed the dissenter as profitable occurrence. They created trading centers out of this occurrence and maritime centers as well that transported supplies from and to Europe. Culturally those settlers of the middle colonies regarded themselves to be Europeans and tried hard to replicate the lifestyles, cultural traditions, and social relations of their motherland.
