French and Indian War.

The French and Indian war marked the power battle of the Great Britain against both the French and the Native American forces allied to the French forces. Though given this name, the war is claimed to have been the direct reason behind the seven years war which saw the occurrence of a world-wide conflict. Existing historical evidence clearly shows that this war was mainly caused by the fact that the Britain government wanted to take control of land possession in the North American nation which had been in the hands of the France government. It is also evidently claimed that they also wanted to take over fur trade in the territories which were held by the French. Just to be emphasized here is the fact that before the establishment of international laws and signing of treaties between nations, imperialism was highly practiced by powerful nation. It is indeed due to this reason that the history of the ancient world is marked with many incidences of war between nations as well as colonization and slavery. This fight for supremacy is what led to the French and Indian war.

However, it is evidently clear that the natives of north American found themselves involved in the war against the British soldiers due to the belief that British was out to take their land. Still cited is the fact that due to the industrial and military superiority of the British nation, they managed to defeat the combined forces of French and the native American thus leading to the ultimate signing of the peace treaty of 1763. This treaty led not only to the occupation of French owned land by the British but also the imposing of taxes to the colonists by the British.

This paper is written as an analysis of the French and Indian war. The author in particular gives a discussion on the reasons behind the beginning of the war and it ultimate results. A discussion on the impact of the war to the relationship between the American and Europe is also given.

The French and Indian war has been evidently claimed to have been one among the many wars that involved the Britain and the French government since the fifteenth century. It has however been found to come with much differences simply due to the reason that it marked the first such war outside the Europe or the in the outside world. This war has been claimed by historical evidence to have been as a result of the fact that both nations fought for the control of the fur trade in the Ohio country. It has been claimed that both France and Britain merchants were engaged in fur trade with the natives of North America in the Ohio territory. They thus both claimed township of the Ohio land. It is to be noted here that the struggle by the British to claim ownership and thus convert the Ohio land into farms is what led to the French and Indian war of 1754 to 1763.

It is clear from historical records that the British required many raw materials from the American nation to cater for their highly demanding industrial sector. However, due to the great numbers of French people owning land in the territory the French government engaged in war against the English colonists leading to the capturing of many English trading posts in the region. It is therefore evidently clear that it was not struggle to control fur trade with the Native Americans in Ohio that led to the French war but also claim for owning land for farming. Although the French people had already owned much land in the North American nation, the Native Americans saw it a major threat by the British engaging in war with the French as such was seen to deny their ownership to land. The natives of the Appalachian Mountains saw the increasing number of English settler as a potential reason that could drive them out of their land. This also made that they could loose much control over the fur trade. It is due to this reason that the Native Americans joined forces with the French forces to fight against the British forces. It is to be stated that though the natives traded harmoniously with both French and British merchants, they favored the French trader due to the fact that they saw the great numbers of British colonist soldiers as a major threat to their independence. Still stated as a reason for the war is the fact that the British required a great deal for money and thus demanded for the direct shipping of all products directly to England. It is due to this reason that the French and Indian war began and subsequently led to the word-wide seven years war spreading both to Asian and African continents.

The conflict for land and land ownership between the French and the British saw the beginning of military conflict between the two nations with support of their respective Indian allies. In the early 1750s, the conflict saw the capturing of the several trading posts of the English men as well as the building of Fort Duquesne for defending their territory from the threats by the English. Together with their Indian allies, the French soldiers also destroyed the Pickawillany village west of Ohio which hosted most of the English traders. This security threat to the English traders led to George Washingtons move to force the French out of the Ohio country in 1754. This move was not however successful but saw the construction of the fort of necessity by Washington. It is here to be noted that this fort was overwhelmed by combined forces of French and Native American allies thus resulting to the ultimate declaration of the French and Indian war later that year. It is to be understood here that even with the many pronounced military conflicts between this two nations, it was not until 1756 the French and Indian war was officially declared. The onset of the war was marked with French success in winning many battlefields against the English. This has been closely attributed to the fact that the French soldiers enjoyed much support from the natives. Such are because of the fact that the natives feared that the fast growing population of the English in Ohio could compromise their rights to own land.

The French success was however short lived after the British government decided to engage much of its resources to fight the French in the new world in 1757. This led to the commissioning of more British soldiers in Ohio subsequently resulting to the capturing of Fort Duquesne in the 1758. This was followed by the capturing of other major French cities in the new world namely Fort Niagara and Quebec by 1759, a move which witnessed the fall of France powerful possession of the Ohio country. It is claimed by historical information that the defeat of the French in America led to the spreading of the French and Indian war across the European, Asian and African continents. Still to be clearly noted here is the fact that all this fights involved the French and the Great Britain in struggling for power and trade control supremacy across the globe.

The French and Indian war had many results and lessons for both the French and British nations. The first was that it led to the signing of the peace treaty of Paris by both nations. This marked the end of the French and Indian war and the ultimate surrendering of French government possession in the North American and Canada countries to British. This move results into the ultimate sole benefiting of the British from both trade and land in the American nation. This also made the exercising of colonial power over the Americans much easier as they had less conflicts of power control from other nations. Another thing that took place was the British imposing of taxes on both the natives and the French. It has been evidently claimed that the English had spend much of their revenues in funding the war thus leading to a financial debt. These taxes were thus made to settle the budget deficits. It is here to be noted that most of these taxes were to be paid by the American colonies since the war was fought in defense of their borders. Such evidenced much unrest among the Americans. This is because such a move was evidently an exploitive move to the natives due to their colonial status. The war also showed the Americans of the military strengths of the English army and the vulnerability of army troops. This also led the Americans to learn of the effectiveness of the military tactics which were employed by the French and the natives in the war. It was due to this lesson learned by the Americans from the war that the efforts of English to contain rebelling Americans were marked with many difficulties. Due to the fact that the natives saw the growing number of English colonists in the land as a great threat to their nations sovereignty, the war led to a great compromise of the international relations between America and Europe. It is due to this reason that the British government in the American country faced much rebellion, eventually leading to the American Revolution that brought independence to the Americans.

In conclusion, it has been evidently established that the French and Indian war as it came to be known by Americans was the first war between the French and British. Still clear is the fact that the main reason behind the war was fight for fur trade and land ownership control. The war did not only lead to the realization of the military supremacy of the British but also helped the Americans learn of useful military tactics. It is this military tactics which helped the Native Americans give much resistance to the oppressive rule of the English colonists and thus leading to the ultimate realization of independence in America.
